Indigo: Well, that went well.

Garren: I didn't mean to set the whole cake on fire.

Indigo: *sigh* At least the firemen were nice.

Garren: And very understanding.

Indigo: The good news is that Judy said it's all right if we post a sample from Stacey's book next week!

Garren: Yes, Stacey and Roni are busy looking through the book to see which scene they want to use to post here for you all to read.

Indigo: And Judy wanted to extend a big thank you to everyone who wished her a happy birthday, whether it was here on the blog, or on Facebook, Twitter, by text, or in person.

Garren: Yes, so thank you to everyone. The surprise party was a smashing success.

Indigo: We got to visit with a whole bunch of Judy's other characters who dropped by here. 

Garren: Yes, they were all very nice.

Indigo: And it was very helpful to have a water elemental on hand. She was very useful in assisting the firemen. 

Garren: *ahem* Yes, well...uh, yeah...so we'll see you here next week for a preview of Stacey's new book!

Indigo: Meanwhile, we're going to go finish cleaning charred cake off the ceiling...don't ask..

Indigo: Hi everyone.

Garren: We're planning a surprise.

Indigo: So you can't tell anyone.

Indigo: All right, but you have to be discreet about it.

Garren: Judy has been recovering from her surgery, so we're going to have a surprise party for her on her birthday!

Indigo: Her birthday is this week, so we thought it'd be a nice surprise after her going through her surgery and all of her recovery stuff.

Garren: So you can't tell!

Indigo: I'm more worried about you than I am about them.

Garren: Well, la-de-da. Can you bake a cake?

Indigo: Don't go pulling the cooking card on me. I didn't drop the first one on the floor.

Garren: It was just practice! I can drop all the practice cakes on the floor that I want to!

Indigo: Anyway. Dropped cakes aside, you are all invited here on the blog on January 26 for a surprise party for Judy.

Garren: No presents are necessary. Just your presence. (to Indigo) See what I did there? Presents and presence?

Indigo: Yes. I noticed that. Very clever. Now go clean the floor before Judy comes out of her room.

Garren: (grumbling as he walks away) Fine. I make a joke and I'm sent to the kitchen.

Indigo: And we're going to hit Judy up for a sample of Stacey's new book at the party...maybe she'll let us post it sometime in the next couple of weeks... See you on Thursday!

Indigo: We found out this last week that Judy is going to need surgery on her wrist this coming week.

Garren: This is causing a small tantrum on Stacey's part because it's going to delay her book by at least another month.

Indigo: As a result, she's taking this weekend... off... from blogging.

Garren: And Roni is trying to convince Stacey to help her with finishing the proof-reading so that Judy will have more to work from when she's ready to tackle the final edits.

Indigo: So this week, Garren and I decided to take over for the girls once again so that Stacey could spend some time with her new book.

Garren: Over the next few weeks, we may just be able to convince Judy to put up some bits and pieces of the new book...

Indigo: You know, like a sneak peak here and there...Maybe a glimpse of the cover...

Garren: And that should take some of the sting out of Stacey's book being a bit later than we thought...

Indigo: But next week, we're going to have something special for you.

Garren: It's a series of questions called "More About Us Than You Ever Needed to Know."

Indigo: No it's not.

(Garren shoves the paper in front of Indigo's nose.)

Indigo: I stand corrected. It really IS called that...

Garren: It's a bunch of questions that Indigo, Stacey, Roni, and I will be answering.

Indigo: And next week, we'll post the questions along with our answers.

Garren: So, we'll leave you with the knowledge that next week, you'll have all the dirt on us.

Indigo: It's not really about dirt.

Garren: Yes it is...look here.... (points to a line on the page)

Indigo: OK. Fine. THAT one is sort of about dirt...

Garren: See!?

Indigo: *sigh* Anyways, folks, over the next few weeks, we're going to have some cool stuff for you to take the edge off of Judy's recovery. So stay tuned.

Sick time is over

Stacey: We're finally back.

Roni: It was a rough couple of weeks there.

Stacey: Yeah, especially with the dragon doing all the cooking.

Roni: There's nothing like BBQ soup when you're sick.

Stacey: That was kinda gross.

Garren: HEY! A lot of thanks I get for HELPING!

Roni: Oh, Garren. You know we appreciated all that you did around here while we were sick.

Stacey: Yes, even the BBQ laundry.

(Roni giggles)

Garren: Fine. You two are on your own.

(Garren stomps out of the room.)

Stacey: See what you did? I told you never to laugh at the dragon.

Roni: You started it.

Stacey: Oh yeah...I did. (Laughs)

Roni: So unfortunately, we sort of lost the plot for Advent with Austen.

Stacey: And by 'lost the plot', Roni means that we totally flaked and didn't read much of anything while we were passed out from the Codeine that the doctor gave us.

Roni: Yeah, something like that.

Stacey: But what we DID do is get an advanced galley copy of MY book!

Roni: You weren't supposed to see that!

Stacey: Well, I did! And I like it!

Roni: Don't get too excited, there's still a bit of editing to do on it.

Stacey: Yes, but that means IT'S GETTING CLOSE!!!

Roni: Yes, it is. And the sooner we get proof-reading, the sooner it is ready to go to press.

Stacey: Than what are we waiting for??? Let's get to work! (Stacey bolts out of the room.)

Roni: OK, folks. I guess our sick time is over. But rest assured that Stacey's book will be ready soon and we'll be revealing the cover sometime in the next few weeks!

Indigo: And Happy New Year everyone!

Garren: The girls are all still sick! The bears have taken over!

Indigo: Calm down.

Garren: I CAN'T calm down! She's coming!

Indigo: Hello everyone. The girls are all still down with a case of bronchitis.

Garren: I'm telling you, SHE'S coming!!!

Indigo: And apparently Garren has gone a little stir crazy with a bit of cabin fever.

Garren: (in a loud whisper) DON'T SAY FEVER!

Indigo: The teddy bears have been doing what they do best. They're comforting the girls while they are sick and just generally taking care of things.

Garren: It's not called "taking care of things" when they are taking OVER!

Indigo: I'm thinking that Garren needs a time-out... (to Garren) Why don't you have some of Toasty's chicken soup? It's really good.

Garren: I am out of here...look behind you!

Indigo: uhhh....I may take Garren out for a walk....

*whoosh* *chair spinning*

Austen, Linus, and a non-blog post

Garren: Well, the humans here are all sick.

Indigo: It's been a rough week.

Garren: I've never seen so much Kleenex usage...and they don't even burn it afterwards.

Indigo: There's no fireplace...

Garren: We don't need a fireplace...

Indigo: Yes, we do.

Garren: Anyways...fireplace or no, everyone here is sick...

Indigo: The boys aren't.

Garren: Trent WAS sick and I don't count the brother.

Indigo: Why not?

Garren: He doesn't play with me.

Indigo: That's because you won't play his video games with him.

Garren: I have no THUMBS!

Indigo: (chuckling) OK...Garren and I have agreed to take today's blog post because the girls are all sick.

Garren: Don't forget the zombies...

Indigo: There ARE NO ZOMBIES!

Garren: Jane Austen says there is.

Indigo: We've explained that to you over and over. The zombies were added in by someone else.

Garren: There ARE ZOMBIES...just look at the cover...

Garren: It SAYS it's by Jane Austen.

Indigo: But the zombies were added in by that Seth guy listed on the cover with her.

Garren: (staring at the cover) Are you sure?

Indigo: Positive. Just go ask Roni. She'll explain it again.

Garren: But Roni's cranky when she's sick.

Indigo: (shaking his head) Remember, in this world, there are fiction and non-fiction books.

Garren: That still weirds me out. Why write down something that's not true?

Indigo: For entertainment.

Garren: There's too much to remember here.

Indigo: You'll get used to it.

Garren: Are you used to it?

Indigo: No, but I take things at a slower pace than you do.

(Garren lets smoke trail from his nostrils.)

Indigo: Don't you have a new friend?

Garren: LINUS! How could I forget!?

(Garren dashes from the room.)

Indigo: Our caramel-corn bearing friend brought us a stray baby dragon...Garren has adopted him as a baby brother...

Garren: (holding up a sleepy baby red dragon) Here he is!

Linus

Garren: Isn't he cute!?

Indigo: Yes, Garren. He's adorable. And less trouble than you are...

Garren: Hey!

(Indigo giggles.)

Garren: Fine. If you're going to be that way, I'm going to go get Linus up to speed on Sense and Sensibility.

Indigo: Sounds like a good idea to me. But we have a blog post to do first.

Garren: You do it.

(Garren and Linus go to the couch and sit together with the book.)

Indigo: Well, since I've lost Garren to a previous century, I guess there won't be much of a blog post this week. Not much reading has been going on here. Mostly nose blowing and sleeping. So Roni and Stacey will be back next week with updates on their Advent with Austen reading. Meanwhile, I'm going to go listen to Garren reading to Linus. Have a good week and stay well.

Advent with Austen, Week 1

Roni: As some of you may know, we're participating in Advent with Austen.

Stacey: And we kicked off the week with reading Sense and Sensibility together as a group.

Roni: We're planning on following the scheduled reading plan that is laid out on Reading, fuelled by tea's blog. (She's the instigator of our Austen-madness this month.)

Stacey: And we watched the 1980 Pride and Prejudice mini-series as a group too.

Awesome mini-series for its time.

Roni: Which was extremely enjoyable.

Stacey: Except for Garren's constant rants throughout the viewing.

Roni: Yes, unfortunately, Garren has never read Pride and Prejudice...or seen any of the movies.

Stacey: But he HAS been reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Garren's first exposure to Jane Austen.

Roni: Which led to him screaming about the fact that zombies were about to burst through a window, or attack at various different points throughout the story.

Stacey: And then he was very disappointed when said zombies never materialized.

Roni: Which, unfortunately led him to believe that the mini-series was not the correct story.

Stacey: Fortunately, he hasn't finished the book yet.

Roni: So the last three episodes we watched in peace.

Stacey: If you can call "peace" watching with a grumbling smoldering dragon on the end of the couch.

(Roni giggles.)

Stacey: We've been trying to get him to read Jane Austen's original version, but SOMEONE won't give it up.

Roni: Hey! I'm reading it as MY first book for the month.

Stacey: But Garren NEEDS to read it...

Roni: Fine. But only when YOU release Northanger Abbey from your death-grip.

Stacey: We really need to get more copies of Austen's books.

Roni: I'll get on that when I go in to work tomorrow...I think I have some more copies...

Stacey: Oh, and in case any of you were wondering, the bears DID finish their NaNoWriMo, as did Garren.

Roni: In a last minute, closing in on mid-night mad dash.

Stacey: But Garren DID make it to 50,000.

Roni: And Stacey finished in her own mad-dash-to-midnight frenzy, so we had a house full of NaNo winners this year.

Stacey: And we celebrated with sleeping in on the first of December.

Roni: Which was much needed by all of us.

Stacey: So with NaNo over and done with, the manuscripts are all being put away for a month while we recover and enjoy our relaxing Austen-madness.

Roni: So in case you're wondering...the first book selections are as follows:

Stacey: Roni is reading Pride and Prejudice.

Roni: Stacey is reading Northanger Abbey...for the 600th time.

Stacey: Garren is reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Roni: Judy is reading the screenplay and diaries of Emma Thompson from the movie version of Sense and Sensibility.

Stacey: Indigo is our rebel and is starting with Becoming Jane Austen by Jon Spence.

Roni: And of course, the group is reading Sense and Sensibility together in the evenings.

Stacey: So that's our kick-off for Advent with Austen.

Roni: We're all planning on finishing our first books soon, and we definitely need to watch Sense and Sensibility before Garren starts reading Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.

Stacey: Good plan.

Roni: Happy reading everyone!

Goodbye NaNo, Hello Austen

Roni: Well, we've come to the end of NaNoWriMo...

Stacey: Speak for yourself. I still have four and a half days!

Roni: Well, get back to writing then!

Stacey: Fine.

Roni: Judy and I have come to the end of our NaNoWriMo's. Stacey is still plugging away...and I think Garren has given up completely.

(Garren pouts in the corner with smoke trailing from his nostrils...)

Roni: But I do think that they teddy bears are closing in on their 50,000 words...although technically I'm not sure if it counts if it's a group project...

(The bears wave from the other computer...)

Roni: So while Stacey frantically works on the end of her novel, I'm just here to remind every one that we're going to be participating in Advent with Austen from November 27 until Christmas eve.

Roni: So go get all of your Austen and Austen related materials and join us for this. It's going to be a lot of fun. We'll keep you updated on what everyone is reading and what movies we're watching. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and congrats to all of you NaNoWriMo-ers out there!

NaNo, Forts, Journals, and Austen

Stacey: So here we are, just over the half-way point in NaNoWriMo.

Roni: And as usual, chaos has broken out.

Stacey: Roni is doing the best. Go figure there. Her word count is even higher than Judy's.

Roni: Well, your word count would be higher if you would put down the books you've been reading and write more.

Stacey: Dude, when I discover a new, awesome author, I HAVE to read their stuff. And Suzanne Collins is AWESOME!!!

Roni: Well, just remember I get to borrow them when you're done.

Stacey: Yeppers!

Roni: Anyway...Garren has completely abandoned all NaNo efforts and has taken to building forts all around the house. We've had to wade through his maze for a week now and yesterday I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get to the bathroom. It's really getting out of hand.

Stacey: But it's FUN!

Roni: Maybe the first day. But when you've been writing all day, and sucking down the coffee, the LAST thing you want to have to do is make your way through a labyrinth of sheets to get to the bathroom.

Stacey: TMI, Roni. TMI. *ahem* SO...where were we? Oh yeah, NaNo. OK...so Roni is writing a romance novel.

Roni: You say that like it's a bad thing.

Stacey: No I didn't.

Roni: Whatever.

Stacey: I didn't!

Roni: And Stacey's writing an urban fantasy.

Stacey: Judy's still working on Indigo and Garren's book...sort of.

Roni: I think she backed up and is writing the beginning of the series, because there's a lot of the legends and mythology and lineage to be worked out.

Stacey: Which is why Garren's in a tizzy.

Roni: Because not all of it is directly related to his story. A lot of it is the foundation of the alternate world his book is based in.

Stacey: Which he's more than happy to advise Judy on every five minutes.

Roni: The bears have teamed up and are writing an all teddy bear version of something that I find frighteningly similar to The Godfather.

Stacey: It's not THAT similar.

Roni: We'll see.

Stacey: So that's what's going on with NaNoWriMo.

Roni: Plus Judy's got two more journals up for sale. One is a more manly-looking one for you guys out there.

For the guys.

Stacey: And for those like me, who like a larger writing surface, there's an 8 1/2 X 11 one too.

Larger size, NOT spiral bound.

Roni: Also, just as a head's up, we're all going to be participating in the upcoming Advent with Austen. Click the picture below to read more about it.

Roni: Just a short, quick update today.

Stacey: Really short.

Stacey: Yeah! We had an awesome turnout for that. The winners have already been notified and their copy of the new book is in the mail.

Roni: Also, we've been celebrating a new book of sorts that Judy published.

Roni: I thought we weren't going to mention that...

Roni: Garren has made a fort in the living room.

Roni: Except, all the noise comes from the inside.

Roni: And now everything is settling back to normal...so of course, we have to stir things up immediately.

Stacey: As some of you know, November is NaNoWriMo.

Roni: That would be National Novel Writing Month, for those of you that don't know.

Stacey: Right. 50,000 words in 30 days.

Roni: Only the truly insane would take on a challenge like this.

Stacey: Which is why Judy, Roni, Toasty, Garren, and myself are all participating this year.

Roni: Like I said, only the truly insane.

Stacey: Judy is keeping track of her word count up in the top right hand corner of the blog.

Roni: And Toasty has been taking his writing very seriously.


Toasty, hard at work again. We think he's a Type-A bear.

Stacey: Even Garren is taking this year's challenge very seriously.

Roni: He's chosen to write his novel by hand.

Stacey: And he's writing it in a super-secret dragon language that none of us can read.

Garren's novel notebook.

Roni: We've been trying to figure out what it says all day...Stacey's been so obsessed with it that she's already falling behind in her word count.

Stacey: I'm NOT obsessed. I just can't stand not being able to solve a puzzle.

Roni: Yeah, ok. Because that's not the first step of bring obsessed.

Stacey: Look, Roni, a bird. (Stacey points out the window.)

Roni: Where? What kind is it?

(Stacey laughs.)

Roni: Very funny.

Stacey: I thought so.

Roni: It was NOT pretty.

Roni: That happens when the kitchen smells like fresh baked pumpkin cookies...

Stacey: Funny how you just HAPPENED to be baking that afternoon.

Roni: I don't believe in coincidences.

Stacey: Yeah, neither do I. (chuckles) Anyways...that's not all the two of them have been up to either.

Roni: They're always up to something.

Stacey: For one thing...Toasty thinks he gains his superpowers from the microwave.

Roni: Well, the tag he came with said he can go in the microwave.

Stacey: But that's just WRONG!

Roni: Garren doesn't seem to think so.

Stacey: It's. Just. Wrong.

Roni: Toasty Bear is filled with flaxseed and is designed to go into the microwave. He's a therapy bear.

Stacey: It's WRONG. Teddy Bears do NOT belong in the microwave.

Garren: Judy's mom says it's okay.

Stacey: But with Judy's mom, Toasty can do no wrong.

Garren: She's definitely a teddy bear advocate.

Stacey: But Garren, you get along with Judy's dad really well.

Roni: We still haven't been able to get Garren to pose for a picture. Even for Judy's dad.

(Garren sulks away quietly.)

Stacey: He's still on his rant about not wanting to be placed alongside Big Foot and the Yeti on the internet.

Roni: He's kinda big on conspiracy theories and urban legends.

Stacey: The word is paranoid.

Roni: Yeah. That too.

Stacey: So if you happen to see a dragon in a superhero costume this Halloween...DO NOT try to get a picture.

Roni: Or else you will wake up with your hair tied in knots, pudding in your shoes, and all of your left socks missing.

Stacey: Trust me, I know this from experience.

Roni: She's not kidding.

(Garren giggles in the hallway.)

Stacey: It's been a busy week here.

Roni: A swamp? Really? Were there water birds?

Stacey: Water birds?

Roni: Yeah. Birds...that swim around in the water.

Stacey: There was a troll.

Roni: A troll?

Stacey: Yep. A big one. He was pretty cool.

Roni: A troll? Who was cool?

Stacey: And a water elemental.

Roni: A what?

Stacey: A water elemental...she's sort of like a uh...well, she's made of water.

Garren: Nevermind the elemental...look at what me and Toasty Bear found!

Roni: (looking at the pictures) What are these, Garren?

Garren: Toasty and I have been making a scrapbook for Alexia!

(Toasty nods.)

Garren: They are all pictures we found of dragons and teddy bears getting along!

Stacey: Nice, Garren!

Roni: Sure, go right ahead.

Garren: *ahem* Ladies and Gentlemen, Dragons and Teddy Bears, may I present to you this evidence of dragons and teddy bears getting along!

Garren: What?

Stacey: Creepy?

Creepy.

Stacey: Huh. I see what you mean.

Garren: Is that bad?

Stacey: It's not THAT creepy. Much.

Garren: No, that we can't find a lot?

Roni: No, Garren. It's not bad. Dragons and teddy bears just...

Stacey: Are usually so busy fighting evil that they don't have time to pose for pictures together that often.

Roni: What she said.

Garren: Oh. OK. That sounds reasonable. We're like superheroes.

Stacey: Explain...

Garren: Superheroes only team up occasionally. Usually they're like lone wolves...

Indigo: Watch where you go with wolf analogies...

Garren: Yeah! We're like superheroes! (to Toasty) We need capes!

(Garren and Toasty run off down the hall.)

Stacey: Well, this will be fun.

Roni: They're going to break something, I know it.

Stacey: So there you have it, folks. More mayhem to ensue next week.

(CRASH)

Roni: *sigh* I'll get the broom.

Introducing Sally and Alexia. And their Book.

Roni: Hi, everybody!

Stacey: We interrupt your week with a special news bulletin!

Roni: The print edition of Sally and the Marauders is now officially on Amazon.com!

Stacey: And we have Sally here to help us tell you more about it.

Roni: Why don’t you introduce yourself, Sally?

Sally: Hi, everyone! (waves) I’m Sally. I’m here with Alexia actually, but I’m not sure where she went.

Roni: I think she’s talking to the dragon.

Sally: There’s a dragon here?

Stacey: What? You haven’t met Garren yet?

Sally: No.

Roni: Alexia went straight for the dragon and teddy bears when she got here. It was like she KNEW.

Sally: Knew what?

Stacey: Let’s just say that the dragon and the teddy bears have not been on the best of terms lately.

Sally: Oh. OK. I don’t know how anyone could not like a teddy bear.

Stacey: Garren had his reasons.

Roni: So how did you two get here?

Sally: With the Trunk of Alexia, of course!

Stacey: Of course. I’d kinda like to take a ride in that thing.

Sally: Just let me know where you want to go!

Stacey: Sweet!

Roni: *ahem* Maybe we should talk about the book?

The Book...Sally and the Marauders

Sally: Yes! The book! Sally and the Marauders is book 2 of my series. It starts the morning after I get back home to my mother and grandmother. We pretty much immediately go back to the Castle to help rebuild the town that’s just been damaged by a pirate attack. Then we head to the Palace in the center of the Kingdom where I am supposed to meet my family. The rest of the story is the adventure we have along the way.

Roni: The adventure is with the Marauders?

Sally: That’s right.

Roni: I also noticed that at the end of the book, there’s a secret chapter.

Sally: YES! Chapter 1 of book 3 is included in the back of the book.

Roni: And you already have a name for book 3?

Sally: Book 3 is going to be Sally and the Sorcerer. But any info you get about that you’ll have to read at the end of Sally and the Marauders.

Stacey: Nice pitch, kid.

Sally: Thank you.

(CLUNK)

Sally: WHAT was THAT?

Roni: Usually, that’s the dragon.

Sally: Is Alexia still in there?

Stacey: Yep.

(Sally gets up to see where Alexia is, but is stopped by Alexia flying down the hallway.)

Sally: Are you all right, Alexia?

(Alexia hums happily.)

Sally: What happened?

(Alexia hums some more and gestures down the hall and waves her arms a bit.)

Stacey: What’s she saying?

Sally: I have no idea. I still can’t always understand her.

Roni: She says that there shouldn’t be any more problems between the dragon and the teddy bears. She talked to them and they have actually become friends.

Sally: YOU understand her?!

Roni: (smiles) I spend a LOT of time in my garden.

Sally: Awesome!

Stacey: You’re creeping me out, Roni.

(Roni laughs)

(Garren comes down the hall with a teddy bear on his shoulder.)

Roni: So you’ve made up, have you?

Garren: Yeah. We’re good.

(The teddy bear nods.)

Roni: It’s about time.

Sally: You must be Garren! I’m Sally.

Garren: Hello, Sally! Nice to meet you.

(The teddy bear bows to Sally.)

Garren: And this is Toasty.

Sally: Nice to meet you Toasty.

(The teddy bear nods.)

Roni: Well, it looks like things are going to quiet down around here with peace between the dragon and the bears.

Stacey: Awesome! Does that mean it’s time for a trip?

Sally: Sure! Where do you want to go?

Stacey: We totally need to go to the swamp where Judy’s next fantasy novel takes place!

Roni: No. I really don’t think that’s a good idea.

Sally: We’ll be fine. Alexia will come with us.

(Stacey, Sally, and Alexia jump into the Trunk of Alexia.)

Roni: I really don’t think-

(The lid drops and the Trunk is gone.)

Roni: This is not good.

Garren: They didn’t even ask if I wanted to come.

Roni: I’m sorry Garren. I’m sure they would’ve taken you if they knew you were interested.

Garren: That’s OK. Now I can write in Sally’s new book.

Roni: (Horrified) You WRITE in books?

Garren: Of course.

Roni: Why?

Garren: I highlight passages that I like and I put little color-coded notes in the margin.

Roni: I bet you dog-ear the pages too.

Garren: I can never find a bookmark.

Roni: *sighs* Well folks, don’t forget to pick up your copy of Sally and the Marauders on Amazon.

Garren: (waves his copy in the air, while holding a fist full of colored markers) I’m going to read mine right now.

They're at it again

Roni: We apologize for such an abrupt ending to last week's post.

Stacey: Yeah, we had to save Garren from a small hoard of teddy bears.

Roni: That would be a sleuth of teddy bears.

Stacey: What?

Roni: A group of bears is called a sleuth.

Stacey: A sleuth? Like a detective?

Roni: Yes.

Stacey: Like that won't freak Garren out even more?

Roni: Garren's fine. There is a truce between him and the bears.

Stacey: A strained truce.

Roni: But a truce none the less.

Stacey: *ahem* OK then, we had to save Garren from a sleuth of teddy bears.

Roni: And injuries were minimal.

Stacey: When I got in there, the bears had Garren in an arm-lock in the closet.

Roni: I caught one trying to do a moonsault from the top shelf of the closet.

Stacey: And for those of you who aren't wrestling fans, like Roni here, the following video depicts a moonsault...just picture a 12 inch teddy bear doing this down onto an 8 foot dragon...

Roni: YES! Matt Hardy rules!

Stacey: Yes, Roni...we know.

Roni: *ahem* Anyway...the bears are all fine. Garren is fine. Indigo was able to break things up and calm Garren down.

Stacey: So everything here is back under control.

Roni: Except for the fact that Garren tied all of the teddy bears' bow-ties in knots and hung the knotted ribbons from the ceiling fans.

(The refrigerator closes in the kitchen.)

Roni: Who's in the kitchen?

Stacey: (looking over her shoulder) The teddy bears are making off with the root beer.

Roni: Doesn't the root beer belong to Garren?

Stacey: Yes. Yes, it does.

Roni: Where are the bears taking the root beer?

Stacey: I don't know. Why don't you go sleuth the teddy bears and find out?

Roni: Very funny. (Roni gets up and follows the teddy bears down the hall.)

(FLUSH)

Stacey: Well, I guess they're at it again. It sounds like the sleuth of bears have just flushed Garren's root beer down the toilet.

Indigo: I told Garren they'd get him back for the ribbons.

Stacey: He's not going to try to fight them again, is he?

Indigo: Not if we catch him first. (Indigo goes down the hall to look for Garren.)

Stacey: Sorry folks, Garren has been a little weirded out all week. He found this picture on the internet and is convinced that the teddy bears are part of an evil plot to take over Judy's imagination and to eliminate all dragons.


The true identity of Garren's nemesis.

Stacey: Personally, I think Garren is getting a bit paranoid. But I was able to get out of him something about an incident that happened years ago where some teddy bears thought Garren was a monster under the bed. He was attacked by the bears. It left him wary of the little guys. The teddy bears insisted that without their night-vision goggles, dragons and monsters are very difficult to distinguish from one another in the dark. Garren still seems to be holding a grudge about this incident.

(Roni comes back in and sits down.)

Stacey: Is everything all right?

Roni: (huffing) They're all on their own!

Stacey: Why? What happened?

Roni: The bears flushed the root beer.

Stacey: I guessed that much.

Roni: So then Garren started to try to flush the bears.

Stacey: What? NO! Did you stop him?

Roni: Of course I did. But I wasn't able to keep the first bear from getting a bit wet.

Stacey: Aww. The poor little guy.

Roni: Are you kidding me? The bear flipped Garren with a hip-throw and gave him a swirlie.

Stacey: (laughing hysterically)

Roni: Luckily Indigo intervened. He has them separated. Garren is in one room, the bears in another.

Stacey: (still laughing)

Roni: So anyway...what we're really here for folks is to let you know that the print copy of Sally and the Marauders is going to be available on Amazon THIS WEEK.

Stacey: (still giggling)

Roni: If we can keep the dragon and the teddy bears from killing each other, we may be able to have a special guest or two sometime mid week for the official release of the book.

Stacey: Really? Who?

Roni: I've heard a rumor that Sally and Alexia may be showing up.

Stacey: Awesome!!!

Roni: Yes, very awesome. So stay tuned folks. We have a book release coming up very soon!

The Care and Feeding of Dragons

Stacey: Apparently, there has been some concern about there being a dragon in the household.

Roni: Some people have been worried that it could be dangerous.

Stacey: But Roni and I assure you that we are all perfectly safe.

Roni: Garren is completely housebroken.

Stacey: And he occasionally breaks things in the house.

(Roni elbows Stacey in the ribs.)

Stacey: (oof) I mean, he's fine. We're all fine. Really.

Roni: Here are a few things you should know about the proper care and feeding of dragons.

Stacey: First, we discovered that Garren loves caramel corn.

Roni: BUT, through the generosity of a wonderful friend (thank you, Mary,) we discovered that (aside from large slabs of meat) the perfect dragon food is this:

Stacey: Along with the perfect drink for dragons:


Notice the "NO CAFFEINE", VERY important when feeding dragons.

Roni: And with the nights finally cooling off, we come to our second tip.

Stacey: Dragons LOVE fleecey blankets.

Roni: Piles of them.

Stacey: Garren has a large pile of fleece blankets that he sleeps on.

Roni: And his favorite blankie is this one.

Garren's favorite blankie.

Stacey: But DON'T call it a "blankie" in front of him.

Roni: He feels that the word "blankie" is not macho, and therefore not befitting a dragon.

Stacey: So seriously, don't do it.

Roni: And finally, we had a small issue this last week. So we figured we would let all of you know this little tidbit so you don't make the same mistake that we did, should you decide to keep a dragon in the house.

Stacey: Judy, Roni, and I love art. So, we came across this AWESOME picture online this last week.

Roni: Unfortunately, Garren took it the wrong way, and this set him off in a tizzy.

Stacey: Something about being mistaken for a monster at some point in his life, and those darn bears and their miniature weapons.

Roni: We still haven't gotten the whole story out of him.

Stacey: But we have had to put all of the teddy bears in the house into the witness protection program.

Roni: They are now Garen's nemeses.

The nemesis of all dragons (according to Garren)

Stacey: Nemesi?

Roni: They are the enemy.

Stacey: According to Garren.

Roni: (Nodding) According to Garren.

Stacey: So for the safety of all the teddy bears, we have "put them away".

Roni: Where all the teddy bears are safe and sound.

Stacey: Although we have heard rumblings of a rebellion.

Roni: What???

Stacey: Nothing. I just heard the bears talking...

Roni: What? No! Excuse me...

(Roni sprints down the hallway.)

Stacey: *ahem* Yeah. So this concludes today's lesson about the care and feeding of dragons.

(CRASH)

Stacey: What was that?

(BANG)

Stacey: Uhm, you may have to excuse me...I think the bears have escaped...

(SLAM)

Roni: (from the other room) They have Garren cornered!

Indigo: (getting up off the couch) I told him that they wouldn't take this well.

Stacey: Will he hurt them?

(CRASH)

Indigo: Have you seen Garren fight? (Indigo heads to the hallway.)

Stacey: No.

Indigo: The bears will be fine. (over his shoulder) You may need to get the first aid kit for the dragon though.

Stacey: OK. I think we're done here. Thanks for coming back.

(Small horn sounds a CHARGE toot.)

Stacey: See ya next week. (Bolts down the hallway.)

In the Pink

Stacey: Everyone is wearing pink this month.

Roni: Even the dragon.

Stacey: Although, we had to wrestle him to the ground to get the bracelet on him.

Roni: It was not pretty. I think we may have to replace a lamp or two for Judy and her husband.

Stacey: And a couch cushion.

Roni: A couch cushion? Really? I didn't see that.

Stacey: I flipped it over. Be careful when you sit down.

Roni: Uh, uhm....where were we?

Stacey: The pink bracelets on the boy dragon.

Roni: Oh yeah...once we explained to Garren that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month...and what Breast Cancer is...and how it affects so many women and men...

Stacey: Then he surrendered peacefully and let us put the bracelets on him.

Roni: They're really more like rings on a dragon his size.

Stacey: And now he's more than happy to show them off to everyone that walks by...

Roni: No matter how many times we've seen them.

Stacey: So remember to show your support by wearing pink this month.

Stacey: So today would've been Jim Henson's 75th Birthday.

Roni: So, since Mr. Henson is such a big influence on Judy, we thought that we'd do a little tribute to Mr. Henson here on the blog.

Stacey: Right, so I thought we could show a couple of videos highlighting some of Judy's favorite Jim Henson moments.

Roni: One of her favorites being the combined creativity of Jim Henson, artist Brian Froud, and singer David Bowie.

BBQ Crazy

Stacey: We’re back. Roni and I have an update on what Judy has been doing this last week.

Roni: Things are going well here at the mad house. *giggles*

Stacey: So, Judy has decided that she wants to illustrate the anthology of the Trunk of Alexia series. Once a few more sequels are published, you’ll be able to buy them all in one volume, complete with illustrations. But you have to remember that Judy is recovering from having a sprained wrist right now…so the drawing process is...

Roni: Slow.

Stacey: Verbal.

Roni: Labored?

Stacey: Prosaic.

Roni: She’s almost starting over because she is having to relearn how to control her wrist.

Stacey: It’s actually sort of amusing to watch.

Roni: (elbowing Stacey) It’d be a lot easier on her if you weren’t constantly leaning over her shoulder critiquing her work.

Stacey: I’m HELPING.

Roni: The best help you can give her is to keep the others out of her way.

Stacey: Uhm, yeah. Just so all you folks know…Judy has sort of let her characters roam free in the apartment.

Roni: JUDY has done this?!

Stacey: Well, SHE created them!

Roni: It’s definitely been an interesting few days.

Stacey: It just started with Roni and I. We were helping to get things organized for the release of Sally and the Marauders. Which, by the way is only 99 cents on Kindle and Nook.

Roni: And then Stacey here accidentally opened the Trunk of Alexia.

Stacey: It wasn’t MY fault! Bennett was asking questions about it!

Roni: Don’t be blaming Bennett. You know better than to open the Trunk without Sally or Alexia around.

Stacey: Well, apparently, the Trunk of Alexia can be used for more than just teleportation to Abby’s world.

Roni: And some of the characters from some of Judy’s other books have escaped.

Stacey: And unlike Roni and I, who are *technically* from THIS world…some of the creatures...

Roni: Are NOT from around here.

(CLANK!)

Stacey: What was THAT?

Roni: (Looking around) Garren is nosing around the crock pot.

Stacey: (shaking head) Judy is making BBQ chicken for dinner and the dragon is in the kitchen again.

Roni: Like I said, they’re NOT from around here.

Stacey: You’ll meet Garren in a book later on. But for now, (turning to the kitchen) hopefully he’ll STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN!

(CLATTER)

(A red dragon sneaks quietly down the hall, puffing smoke out his nostrils.)

Roni: And NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE!

Stacey: *Ahem* Where were we?

Roni: The art work?

(CRASH)

Stacey: Was that the wolf again?

Stacey: Hi everyone! This is Stacey. I hacked into Judy's blog because she writes boring posts. Don't get me wrong, I love her to death, but seriously...did you read the last one? So, I'm going to be taking over for a bit here.

OK...So you've heard that Sally and the Marauders is already available for the Nook and the Kindle. But did you know it's only 99 cents? AND Sally and the Buccaneers is available for both ereaders, also for 99 cents. SO for about $2 you can get up to speed on this series. They're fun books and really quick reads. Not just for kids!

Also, if you want to get the new book in print, give it a few weeks and it will be available on Amazon.com. We'll let you know when it's available, so there will be no guessing on your part.

Just an FYI---Yes, Amazon.com has temporarily pulled my book from their site. Thank you to all who have called and emailed me about this, I SO appreciate the fact that you're looking out for me. ;) ---After some books were returned to Amazon because they were damaged in shipping, Amazon mistakenly thought there was a printing problem and stopped production to check the press. They should have all of this hammered out by Monday. Never fear, any orders delayed by this will be shipped within the next week.

Well, I have completely over-hauled my web site. It will make updating a LOT easier for me. And will hopefully make navigating my website a lot easier for you!
